Maia belongs to the Douro Wine Shippers and Growers Association. The brand was sometimes bottled by Hutcheson and Feuerheerd.

Douro Wine Shippers and Growers were from Barros Almeida but no longer exist. Barros Almeida mainly used this company to send postage under a private label for their European customers and in many cases used the buyer's own brand. Flagman was the import brand of Egger & Franke, Bremen, Germany, and Maia was a brand used in Italy. Morano, Coreira, Ducal are three brands shipped by Douro Wine Shippers and Growers Association, but it is not known if these were originally port wineries, buyer's own brands or brands owned by Douro Wine Shippers and Growers Association. Silva Luz is a brand registered in Denmark by the Douro Wine Shippers and Growers Association, but it is not known if the brand was used in other markets as well. In addition, Douro Wine Shippers and Growers also shipped some of the smaller houses in the Barros Almeida group, the A. Pinto dos Santos and Porto Rocha.

According to Manuel Angelo Barros, a director of Barros, they used the same wine for different brands of Douro Wine Shippers and Growers Association.
