Vintage Port 2024 – A Return to Classic Douro Elegance
The Year in the Douro
After several exceptionally warm and dry years, 2024 brought a welcome return to a more classic growing season in the Douro Valley. The winter provided ample rainfall, allowing the vineyards to enter spring with healthy water reserves and laying the foundation for even and balanced vine growth.
Spring was relatively mild. Flowering took place under favourable conditions, resulting in good fruit set. Although the summer was once again warm, the region largely escaped periods of extreme heat. The combination of warm days and cool nights encouraged a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes, allowing aromas, acidity and tannins to develop beautifully.
The harvest began in early September under almost ideal weather conditions. Dry days and cool nights allowed each grape variety to be picked at optimum ripeness. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão performed particularly well, producing grapes with impressive aromatic intensity, vibrant freshness and excellent structure.
The Character of the 2024 Vintage Ports
The 2024 Vintage Ports are characterised by a combination of power and elegance. Particularly striking are the purity of fruit, floral aromas, vibrant acidity and refined minerality. The tannins are ripe and beautifully integrated, giving the wines remarkable balance even at this very young stage, without compromising their considerable ageing potential.
Many producers describe 2024 as a classic Douro vintage, defined by finesse and harmony. Expect Vintage Ports showing notes of violets, black cherries, cassis, blackberries and subtle spices, supported by a long and refreshing finish.
Ageing Potential
Although the 2024 Vintage Ports already possess considerable charm in their youth, these are wines made above all for the long term. Depending on the Port house, most will continue to develop beautifully for 30 to 50 years, with the finest examples capable of ageing for considerably longer.

Our Impression
"2024 is a vintage that does not seek to impress through sheer power, but instead excels in elegance and balance. The combination of ripe fruit, floral finesse and fresh minerality is reminiscent of the great classic years of the Douro. We expect 2024 to develop into a vintage whose bottles will still be opened with great admiration several decades from now."
